MOT Type 1 near me

What is Type 1 MOT?

It is the most popular type of MOT.

Contractors rely on us for tried and tested MOT Type 1. Our drivers use industrial machines to collect limestone and granite from quarries. They go to local quarries that are in and around Shenley. When they have the materials, they grind the pieces together to form 40mm chunks. Each batch contains materials that range from dust to 40mm.

The acronym MOT is given to products that are approved for use in motorway sub bases and other transport sub bases. MOT stands for Ministry of Transport. This is an old transport regulation government body which has now merged with the Department of Transport.

Recycled Type 1 MOT

As the name suggests, this type of MOT contains recycled materials.

MOT Type 2 Clean

What is MOT Type 2?

This is the only type of MOT that we sell that undergoes another manufacturing process.

Our drivers collect limestone and granite from quarries. We grind the materials into 40mm chunks. We remove all the fine pieces of dust and debris from the batch so that only 40mm chunks remain.

MOT Type 2 is ideal for drainage systems because it only contains large chunks. Other types of MOT would clog drainage systems.

What can I use crushed concrete for?

Crushed materials are popular on construction sites because they are very versatile. We sell materials that range from 20mm to 75mms. Contractors can always find a batch that suits their needs when they choose us.

20mm concrete pieces are the smallest that we sell. This product can support other batches of concrete, limestone, and granite that contain larger pieces. The small pieces slot into the crevices and create more robust structures.

Will crushed concrete compact?

Hardcore materials will compact if they are used in sub bases. Limestone, granite, and concrete are already hardcore materials. When they are placed in sub bases, the weight of the formations on top will cause them to flatten and move closer together. The materials will meld into one and form strong, compact sub bases.

Crushed concrete sub bases can compact so much that they do not meet building requirements. Contractors are responsible for making sure that sub bases are fit for purpose. They might have to add new layers of materials each year.

Does crushed concrete drain?

This is a common question.

All batches of materials have ‘flow rates’. The flow rate of a batch tells us how quickly liquids can pass through it. Certain construction tasks need batches that have high flow rates. Drainage systems need these sorts of batches.

MOT Type 2 is perfect for drainage systems. It contains 40mm chunks of limestone and granite. We filter all the other fine particles of dust out, which means that they cannot clog drainage systems.

Will crushed concrete harden?

We sell concrete, limestone, granite, and aggregates. We specialise in hardcore materials. Most customers buy our materials for sub bases.

Crushed concrete makes excellent sub bases. When builders roll the concrete it compacts. As the materials meld together they become harder. These kinds of sub bases can hold heavy formations such as car parks and even motorways.

Ready mix concrete is harder and stronger than the crushed alternative.

Is crushed concrete toxic?

At HH Muckers, we care about customer safety. All our materials undergo extensive tests at facilities in and around Shenley.

The real problem arises when particles of crushed concrete and other hardcore materials become airborne. Our drivers use industrial machines to break away pieces of concrete from quarries and demolition sites. As the materials break away, particles are released into the air.

If builders inhale concrete particles they could develop long-term lung issues. Builders, homeowners, and contractors should always wear masks when they are on-site.
