Crushed Concrete in Hitchin

Crushed concrete is a cheaper alternative to primary construction materials. We source concrete from demolition sites and crush the pieces into smaller chunks. The materials would otherwise be thrown away. Recycled Type 1 MOT and 6F2 Recycled Aggregates are used in lots of construction tasks.

We also sell batches of crushed primary construction materials. Limestone and granite are hardcore materials that make excellent sub bases.

We use industrial machines to collect our materials. All the materials that we collect undergo testing at a local facility. We sell materials by the ton and can deliver them at any hour of the day. Contractors who pre-book a time slot can access our 24/7 delivery service.

What types of crushed concrete do you stock?

We source, manufacture, and sell a range of crushed materials. Contractors all over Hitchin rely on us for crushed concrete, crushed aggregates, and crushed primary construction materials.

Some of our batches contain dust, and others have the dust filtered out. We sell batches of concrete screening, which do not contain particles of dust. The screening process filters out everything apart from the large chunks of concrete.

MOT Type 1 near me

What is MOT Type 1?

This is one of the most popular types of MOT. It contains a combination of granite and limestone. We use industrial machines to source the materials from quarries and crush them down to 40mm pieces. We do not filter the dust out of MOT Type 1, which means that the pieces range from dust to 40mm.

The Ministry of Transport approves certain materials for use in sub bases. If a material has been approved it will have ‘MOT’ in the title.

MOT Type 1 sub bases can support heavy formations such as motorways and car parks.

Recycled Type 1 MOT

This type of MOT stands apart from the rest because it is made from recycled materials. We collect pieces of old concrete from existing sites that are about to be demolished. Our industrial machines might also collect other building materials such as brick and wood. We grind the pieces together until we create 40mm chunks.

40mm chunks of concrete create robust sub bases. Sub bases can go underneath any number of construction tasks. Recycled MOT Type 1 is an affordable alternative to primary building materials.

MOT Type 2 Clean

What is MOT Type 2?

Like Type 1, Type 2 contains limestone and granite. We also source the materials from quarries and grind them down to 40mm pieces. This type of MOT does not contain pieces of dust. We filter out all the pieces other than the 40mm chunks.

This product has MOT in the title which means that it is ideal for use in sub bases. A lot of contractors in Hitchin also use it for drainage systems. Drainage systems need batches of materials that have high flow rates. Liquids can pass through Type 2 easily because it does not contain dust.

6F5 and 6F2 Recycled Aggregates 75mm

6F2 Recycled Aggregates are also called 6F5 Recycled Aggregates.

We source the materials from demolition sites across Hitchin. Our machines scoop up concrete, brick, stone, wood, and any other building materials that are in the area. We grind the materials together to form 75mm chunks. Batches of 6F2 Recycled contain materials that range from dust to 75mm.

This product is perfect for bulk-fill projects. It is cheaper than materials like limestone and granite and can hold heavy formations.

Screened Crushed Concrete Type 1 40mm

Screening Type 1 is made from concrete. We collect the materials from quarries.

Concrete floor screening does not contain dust. Screening is a manufacturing process that removes dust particles from materials. All that remains are 40mm chunks of crushed concrete.

Concrete floor screening can hold heavy formations. The combination of hardcore chunks of concrete proves to be an excellent base for patio floors and pavements.

Screened Crushed Concrete 75mm

75mm screened crushed concrete is similar to 40mm screened concrete. The materials are also sourced from quarries. We grind the concrete down to 75mm chunks. Bigger chunks are better for larger bulk-fill and flooring projects.

Concrete floor screening has excellent load-bearing qualities.

What can I use crushed concrete for?

Crushed concrete goes into lots of different construction tasks. We also sell batches of limestone, granite, and various building site materials.

20mm pieces of concrete can make sub bases stronger. Lots of contractors purchase this type of concrete to support other batches.

MOT Type 1 is designed for sub bases. Batches of Type 1 contain 40mm pieces of primary construction materials. Granite and limestone are primary building materials. They are very robust and long-lasting.

Recycled MOT Type 1 is cheaper than standard MOT because it contains recycled materials. It contains wood, brick, concrete, and any other building materials that our machines scoop up. The hardcore materials are perfect for sub bases because they can support heavy formations.

MOT Type 2 batches do not contain dust particles. We recommend Type 2 for drainage projects because there is no danger of dust particles clogging the system.

6F2 Recycled Aggregates are often bought to fulfil bulk-fill projects. Batches of 6F5 Recycled Aggregates contain a range of hardcore building materials. They are an affordable alternative to primary materials.

Will crushed concrete compact?

Crushed concrete sub bases compact over time.

Once the sub base is laid and rolled, contractors can build formations on top. The installation process as well as the weight of the formation forces the sub base to compact. Some sub bases can compact so much that they lose height. Contractors have to add new layers to concrete sub bases every few years to meet the same requirements.

If contractors use crushed concrete in loose-fill projects they will not compact.

What materials make good sub bases?

All the materials that we sell are good for sub bases.

Sub bases support building formations. When contractors want to create buildings, motorways, and car parks, they have to build sub bases first. Sub bases need to be robust and long-lasting.

Our materials can hold heavy formations. They contain a combination of big and small hardcore materials. The large chunks of concrete, limestone, and granite create an excellent basis for formations. The smaller chunks fill in the crevices and create an overall more robust structure.

Does crushed concrete drain?

All our batches have a flow rate. The flow rate tells us how quickly liquids pass through the materials.

Contractors can use crushed concrete in drainage systems, sub bases, and bulk-fill projects. Concrete sub bases are rolled and compacted. Very little liquid will pass through the finished sub base. Loose-fill structures have a much higher flow rate.

We also sell MOT Type 2. It contains a combination of limestone and granite. We filter the fine dust particles out of the mixture, which means that it only contains large chunks. Type 2 has the highest flow rate of all the materials that we sell.

Will crushed concrete harden?

When crushed concrete is installed as a sub base the materials will harden over time. The weight of the formation that is on top forces the pieces of concrete to crowd together. The result is an even stronger sub base.

Crushed materials will never be as strong as ready mix concrete.

Is crushed concrete toxic?

This is one of the most common questions that contractors ask us.

We use industrial machines to collect crushed concrete, crushed aggregates, and limestone. We take materials from quarries and demolition sites across Hitchin. When we have the materials we grind them together to create chunks. This process releases dust into the air.

Particles of concrete can be harmful if inhaled. Our staff members always wear masks to protect themselves from dust particles.

Once the materials are on your site there is less chance that dust particles will be released. Still, when contractors lay concrete dust might be displaced and released into the air. We encourage our customers to wear PPE wherever possible.
